Summary
Katie is a Ph.D. student in the Biomedical Sciences program at UC San Diego. She received her B.S in Human Biology and M.S. in Biology from UC San Diego. As an undergraduate, she worked in Dr. Milton Saier’s lab, contributing to several bioinformatics projects in comparative genomics of transporter proteins. She continued her master’s thesis in the same lab, focusing on the transcriptional regulation in E. coli. After graduating, Katie joined Dr. Claire Clelland’s lab at UC San Francisco, where she worked on iPSC modeling of Alzheimer’s disease and CRISPR gene editing therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Outside of lab, Katie likes spending time with her four cats at home.
