Summary

Deepak Pant is a PhD student in the Biological Sciences program at UC San Diego. He recieved a B.Tech in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2021. As an undergraduate researcher, he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Saravanan Matheshwaran at IITK where he worked on understanding how ‘SOS’ response is regulated in Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. As someone with a quantitative education background, he understood the utility and need to approach problems in biology from the perspective of an interdisciplinary scientist.Deepak is currently advised by Dr. Yeo in the UCSD school of Medicine. The interdisciplinary nature of Spatial transcriptomics attracted him to the field. He is broadly interested in understanding how RNA localization changes in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. Outside the lab, Deepak enjoys playing his guitar, going to the beach and exploring new genres of books. He also enjoys long distance running and hopes to run his first marathon sometime soon.
