CIRM Masters Intern
Summary
I am a graduate CIRM intern in the Yeo Lab, where I am mentored by Summer Fair and study the role of RNA editing in brain development. I joined the lab as part of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's blended B.S./M.S. program in Biomedical Engineering, with a specialization in Regenerative Medicine.
As an undergraduate, I worked under the mentorship of Dr. Elena Keeling, investigating the role of Wnt genes in the tissue regeneration of colonial ascidians. My research began with wet-lab experiments and later expanded into computational biology, where I contributed to the development of a de novo transcriptome for Botrylloides violaceus.
For my master's capstone, I joined Dr. Kristen Cardinal's tissue engineering lab, where I developed a blood vessel growth model for vascular medical device testing. I also gained industry experience at AbbVie, where I evaluated pharmaceutical compounds using iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking, watersports, Pilates, and playing cards.
